What Happened to the PLAY Channel?

As quick as it appeared, it was gone. What happened to Lesley Rowland PLAY? In this article, I discuss the channel creation and sudden inactivity, my future plans to relaunch, and what this PLAY channel will feature.

To be honest, I created my PLAY channel too quickly. I didn't possess the necessary equipment nor gaming talent to lead a gaming channel. I opened the channel because I loved playing computer games, but I felt like the content didn't fit in with the rest of my main channel.

I love to play The Sims 4, Zoo Tycoon, and RollerCoaster Tycoon. I love building things, being an entrepreneur, and also controlling any type of life simulation. I spend hours at a time gaming, so it made sense to share this big part of my life with the world. Also, I fully support monetizing a hobby, so you can keep at it.

But what I soon realized was that, when I play games, I am dead quiet and lost in a daydream. I forget to talk to my audience, which isn't entertaining at all. And when I am mindful to share my thoughts, I don't really enjoy playing the game. The online gaming industry is extremely saturated, so I can't expect views if I'm not outputting quality.

My plan was to livestream myself playing Fortnite. There's high ad revenue associated with Fortnite, and I personally enjoyed playing. But the community spent so many hours practicing that I couldn't keep up. I died right away. Also, my desktop Mac and internet speed was slow.

Prior to my Fortnite phase, I had launched a Let's Play series of The Sims 4, but I still ran into problems! :0

I constantly had technical issues with screen recording. One day, I accidentally deleted my game, which threw me into a mini depression. I wasn't proud of the series turnout, so I hid them from the world. 

I did upload a Sims house tour on my Patreon under the Kitty tier ($5). My screen recording failed, so I pointed my iPhone at the computer screen. Honestly, the video quality was not that bad! Promise!

Will Lesley Rowland PLAY return? YES! The question is more so WHEN? I do not have the financial means to relaunch this channel. Gaming requires additional software and devices. Also, I need to hire part-time assistant at the very least to manage my time for filming gameplay but also practicing depending on the game.

I still think that I would keep this channel to computer gaming because that's what I truly love and the best way to keep me motivated.  I have started to practice a different type of LP version with the series Mysterium. This format allows me to relax and enjoy the gameplay first and then use my imagination to tell a story with editing.
